The Class Act Annual 2015

Posted on January 26, 2016 by Thom

We hit the ground running in 2015 starting with the Killer Queen @Killerqueenlive tour throughout Europe – 29 dates in total.  This required a huge new set being built by our crew with full technical and lighting package designed by Scott and Thom with Mick in charge of pyro’s.  New kit came in the shape of “Par Bars” and “Meat Racks”(lighting and transportation stands to you and me!)  Thom also made time to start testing our Building Mapping service and a big thank you to Hedsor House @Hedsor for allowing us to scan and project images on this wonderful building.  Further advances with Class act technology came with a Smart phone app where we have details and images of ourselves and Hedsor House, Killer Queen and other events available, truly on the go.  This has been invaluable to users who hire Hedsor and wish to take colour combinations shopping!

Moving on through March we had great pride in providing for the Commonwealth Day in Aylesbury Market Square and for the Armed Forces Day at Aylesbury Rugby Club in Weston Turville @AylesburyRFU.  Then marching onto the very opulent affair at Sandhurst for the RMAS Commissioning Balls.

Further excitement came via Silverstone where we provided the weekends live timings and results for TopCat Racing @topcatracing at the 24hr Britcar with podium results.  Rigging all the outside pit lighting and erecting the LED screens throughout the garages (around the fabulous Lamborghini and Marcos cars) was a dream and Top Cats looked after us with great food and drink which is always appreciated.  Just as they did with their Piston Heads V8 Event at their base, Westcott Venture Park, Bucks.

Class Act is renowned for its charity support and again this year did not disappoint.  Our very own band, Vintage Sons played at events and gigged around the area to donate all money raised to Cancer Research.  Well done and for the splendid gig at Aylesbury RFC for Cancer Research 24hr #relay for life. Next was the brilliant Midnight Walk for Florence Nightingale @fnhospice #Glo4Flo @Gemstonewalk.  We then carried on with a massive zumbathon and finished our charity work at Hedsor House with Cure Parkinsons.

Fat Boy Slim and the Human League took a lot of our time in August with Brighton Pride, then sadness in September with the loss of our wonderful tabby Cleo who just didn’t come home one morning, off into the great mousing sky.  A big thank you to all at Wescott Venture Park who helped look for her.  On the flip side, much excitement buzzed through the unit in anticipation of our new vans.  These complement the rest of the fleet and are unmistakably Class Act vans!

November – what a month, working with local radio station Mix 96 @officialmix96 at Weston Turville for the biggest Firework display in the vale….until we do it all again this year.  Still touring with Killer Queen and starting all the corporate Christmas parties and award ceremonies mean we are flat to the boards and the festivals and warm outdoor events are a very distant memory.  Onto the wonderful Aylesbury Market Square Christmas lights turn on with Sam Bailey @SamBaileyREAL on stage.  Thousands attended and sang along to songs and carols thoroughly in the festive spirit.

The end of the year was a fabulous mix of romantic Christmas weddings, balls, works do’s, award ceremonies and just about any party type you can think of including our own works shindig in conjunction with Top Cats Racing at the lovely local venue The Akeman.  Then, the icing on the cake, Killer Queen at the Indigo, O2.  What a night and a fitting end to the wonderful tour and fabulous year we have had.

All through, the venues we have worked in and the clients we have worked for have all helped and been welcoming every step of the way.  A big thank you, you all know who you are and a special thanks to our regulars who shall remain nameless.  A happy, healthy and prosperous New Year to you and see you at the next wedding, festival, award ceremony, Killer Queen Tour, firework display.

On to 2016 – here we go again!
